Cadac Safari Chef 30 LP Deluxe QR – Portable Gas BBQ Grill
It all comes down to how you intend to use the Cadac Safari Chef 30. Do you need a quick hit of portable cooking - the HP model is the one for you. It just screws onto a cartridge - easy, compact and perfect for a short trip out. But if you're planning on cooking for a bit longer the LP version is probably a better bet - it runs off either a refillable gas bottle or a CADAC Power Pak, giving you that bit of flexibility when it comes to cooking sessions.
Compared to the HP model, everything else on the LP Deluxe is identical - it's just the way it attaches to your gas supply that's different. The same GreenGrill ceramic BBQ grid and flat grill plate in the LP model - with some nice upgrades like new location tabs and finger slots to make swapping the surface over faster. You get the same enamelled dome lid that doubles up as a cooking pot - and just as handy a fat pan that catches any grease and keeps the wind off the burner at the same time. Then there's the push-button piezo ignition built into the burner - nice and simple.
The legs of the LP Deluxe are designed to fold up in a way that makes it easy to store when you're not using it - and you can leave the QR connection attached to your existing regulated supply - just another nice touch that makes cooking even more convenient. There are little symbols on the base to show you how to fold up the legs - so no more guessing when you're packing it away. Everything stashes away in the carry bag, which is now 24% smaller than the old one - nice to see they've made an effort to get it to fit in the lockers it was always meant to go in.
And just to round off the improvements, the LP Deluxe puts out 2 kW on a regulated supply - slightly more power than the HP model, which might just make a difference if you're cooking for a crowd.
Key Features
- Low Pressure (LP) with Integrated Quick Release Coupling – This one works with your regulated butane or propane via a quick-release connection. So you can use a refillable bottle, Power Pak or your existing regulated supply.
- 2 kW Power Output – The LP model actually puts out a bit more power than the HP - which is handy if you're cooking in bulk. Consistent heat with a regulated supply is a real winner for longer cooking sessions.
- 24% Smaller to Pack – They've redesigned the carry bag to be much smaller than before - and it still fits everything in.
- GreenGrill Ceramic BBQ Grid – Ceramic with integrated heat deflector - good stuff for even heat distribution and less gas used. Plus it's easy to clean.
- GreenGrill Ceramic Flat Grill Plate – Perfect for eggs, bacon, pancakes or fish. New location tabs and finger slots make it easy to swap the surface over.
- Enamelled Dome Lid - Cooking Pot too – Not just a lid - it's actually a pretty handy pot for boiling and heating things up.
- Fat Pan with Flame Peep Holes – Catches the grease and keeps the wind off the burner at the same time - handy.
- Modular - Works with Cadac Accessory System – It works with the Paella Pan 30 and all the rest of the accessories - not that you need to worry about that right now.
Ideal For
- Caravanning & Motorhoming – It's a no-brainer - the quick release connection clicks straight onto your existing regulated gas supply - no more fiddling with cartridges.
- Extended Camping Trips – You can use a refillable bottle or Power Pak - so you can keep cooking without interruption.
- Camping & Outdoor Cooking – It's lightweight, compact and does a full days cooking - no problem.
- Picnics, Fishing & Day Trips – Pack it up in a minute, ready to go.
Why Buy the CADAC SAFARI CHEF 30 LP DELUXE QR?
If you're going to be at a pitch for a few days or your caravan or motorhome has a regulated gas supply already running, the LP Deluxe QR is probably the way to go. It's just so much more convenient than the HP - quick release connection that clicks on and off in seconds - no more fiddling with cartridges. The 2 kW output on a regulated supply means you get consistent and controllable heat - rather than the direct-pressure cartridge cooking which can be a bit hit and miss. The rest of the features - the GreenGrill surface, the dome pot, the fat pan windshield, the modular accessory system - are all identical to the HP Deluxe. So the LP model's got all the same advantages but with a bit more flexibility in the supply side.
